Bear Mountain Forest Products was founded in 1988, as a vision, a hope, and a dream of founder Bob Sourek. Near the beginning of the introduction of pellet stoves for home heating, this seasoned forester recognized the rising need for quality wood pellet fuel. He also saw the potential to generate a useful product from the mountains of sawdust and shavings outpouring from the many sawmills within the pristine Columbia River Gorge and the fertile Willamette Valley of Oregon.

Bob quickly outgrew the original plant in Hood River, Oregon and relocated 20 miles down the Columbia River to the historic town of Cascade Locks, Oregon. With sales growing rapidly, this new plant offered twice the production capacity of the original plant.

In 2001, Bear Mountain Forest Products acquired Golden Fire Premium Fuel Pellets of Brownsville, Oregon. Considered the "original" wood pellet, the addition of the Golden Fire brand again allowed Bear Mountain Forest Products to grow. The addition of a second manufacturing plant strategically located in the heart of the Willamette Valley was an ideal match!

As the Bear Mountain and Golden Fire brands have continued to grow, new products have also been introduced. In addition to wood pellets, Bear Mountain Forest Products also produces Cozy Den Shavings, Dry Den Stall Bedding, Bear Bricks, BBQ Pellets and other BBQ/Smoking fuels. Bear Mountain Forest Products are proudly sold in 350+ retail accounts across the Western USA.

Bob was the only employee in 1988. Today, Bear Mountain Forest Products employs over 70 associates! While many years have passed, the commitment to producing premium quality wood products has not diminished. Bob continues his quest for satisfied customers and a cleaner environment.
